The campus of the Loyola College spread over 99 acres (400,000 m2) at Nungambakkam, Chennai and features tree-lined pathways, academic buildings, a steepled Gothic church, and separate fields for each sport. The number of students is approximately 12,107 and 468 teaching/ non-teaching staff members in the college.

There are separate hostels for boys and girls in the College premises. Each hostel has 836 rooms and can accommodate 1650 students. The Loyola College Hostel is run by the Loyola College Jesuit Management for the benefit of the students. They provide a serene atmosphere and clean surrounding to the students. The rooms are well equipped with a table, chair, mirror, hangers, cupboard, Wi-Fi connection etc. Also, the hostel provides vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.

The Loyola College has a central library which has a collection of more than 1, 02,000 books, 225 journals, 8,087 e-journals and 48,146 e-books. The Loyola Digital Library provides 24 hours of access to the students. The college has a prayer room, Loyola health centre, food court, Wi-Fi, recreational centre, sports pavilion and gymnasium. There are so many student clubs that help to enhance their communication and entrepreneurship skills as well as groom their personality through community service. There is a service unit that’s Loyola Students Support Services (LSSS); they are dedicated for over-all development of students by offering support services such as Scholarships, Management Concession, Supplementary Education, Special coaching, Personality development, Free Noon Meal, Remedial Programmes, Art and Literature and a Special Assistance to Foreign Students.

Performing Arts provides an important means of understanding, constructing, appreciating, and communicating social and cultural values. It allows us to interpret, value, and transmit traditions of the past; explore, celebrate, challenge the present, and build concepts of the future through the imagination. It also encourages team- building and problem solving strategies that have become important requirements in the contemporary work environment.  Loyola Club of Performing Arts was launched in the year 2014-15 with an aim of providing emotional, intellectual, social and aesthetic growth of an individual and to enable students to appreciate, create, and communicate effectively thereby fostering self confidence, self discipline and self-motivation. The focus of the club is both on practical and theoretical exposure which allow students to develop a complete understanding of the various techniques involved in the three art forms: music, dance and theatre. 

DEBATING AND QUIZ CLUB

Objectives

The club aims to develop the speaking skills of the students and train them in critical and analytical skills required for debating in various competitions. The club seeks to represent Loyola College in various debate competitions across the country.

Membership

Students from I, II and III UG courses of both Shift I and Shift II have their membership at the society.

{ The I UG students who enroll come under the wing: Loyola Debating and Quiz Club. After the completion of hours, they continue to be members of LSD from II year onwards }

Hours of Work

The club conducts various activities like orientation sessions, training workshops and mock debates for the members to excel in their skills. Also, debates on current issues are conducted within the college to exhibit the talents as well as promote awareness to impending concerns of the society. The members represent the college in various debates and quiz competitions in other colleges in the country.
