Over 20,000 final-year B.A students were shocked after Agra University, also known as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, distributed wrong question paper. The incident took place on April 05, 2018. The students were expected to receive a question paper on Applied English Grammar but the received the question paper of Comprehension Skills. These students staged a protest against the varsity’s administration and its irregularity in conducting the exams. Many of the students did not answer the question and left empty answer sheet.
However, the authorities of Agra University justified that it was not their fault, and it was a clear mishap of a private agency in contact for data processing. Exam centres in eight districts of Agra and Aligarh division received the question of English Comprehension instead of Applied English Grammar and the same was distributed to the students.
After receiving the question paper, students complained to the invigilators and the same was taken up by the varsity. The varsity conducted an inquiry and admitted the fault that wrong question was distributed. Instead of conducting the exam by distributing correct question paper, the varsity directed the exam centres to re-distribute Comprehension Skills question paper and conduct the exam. Enraged with the varsity’s move, students boycotted the exam and staged a protest.
Finally, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity called for an inquiry into the matter and assured suitable action in student interest. According to sources, the varsity has no other option except to re-conduct the Applied English Grammar exam to these 20,000 students.
