According to the data reports, Mumbai University has received applications from more than 2,20,000 students for the upcoming academic year of 2019-20. The total number for applications for various courses in MU affiliated colleges are around 6.79 lakh in 2019.
The university also opened a helpline for giving any kind of assistance to the applicants. The helpline will help the students clear their doubts and queries related to the university's admission process.
One university official said that till Tuesday, as many as 1.87 lakh is for B.Com courses which are witnessing a significant rise, 68,961 applications Bachelor of Accounts and Finance, and for Bachelor of Management Studies have seen 1,31,337 applications. The Mumbai University has received 52,693 applications for B.Sc in Information Technology and 47,159 forms for other B.Sc courses.
The official said that Applications in the stream of Mass Media have increased notably. The Bachelors in mass media stream in Mumbai University alone has received 45,900 applications and other humanities stram under the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) have received a total of 46,630 applications.
The officials have said that the job oriented courses are becoming popular these days. The registration process is set to conclude on 15th June.
The former vice-chancellor of Mumbai University, Dr. B.L. Mungekar said that the change in practice clearly signifies that the culture of degree acquiring has gone the students these days are more concerned about employability.
